Has anyone with a 4K 3D TV got around to playing Gears of War 3 in 4K 3D on the XB1X? It's quite the experience. There isn't any other movies or TV shows out there in both formats so this was really cool to discover when I loaded up Gears 3 to experience the enhanced update. The biggest issue with 3D compatible games is that they often drop the resolution when played in 3D. However with Gears 3 running in full 4K (or maybe close, it looks sharp regardless) and with 3D it's really fun to play through the campaign this way.I am now hoping other 3D compatible 360 titles get an enhanced update. It really does breathe new life in these old games.Thread was created for contributor/member “yungjediknight' as part of Adopt a User Program. 3D signals have a maximum resolution of 1080p. My 3D TV takes the 2 3D 1080p frames and horizontally scales them by 2x and interleaves them on every other scanline to create the 4k displayed frame buffer. Then the polarizer on the screen lets you see every other line through either the right or left lens on the glasses. On the passive SONY LCDs, like my XBR-65X900A 4k TV, this is flawless. Best 3D I have ever seen. Even better than the movies, in my opinion (and it uses the same glasses). On the LG OLED TVs I saw in Best Buy, there was bleed through at the top or bottom of the screen. It was a really narrow area where you could sit and have it work right. My Sony was much better, so I kept it rather than upgrading to the OLED.
Eventually I'll get a new OLED, but not until they fix some of the issues I had with the TV. Apologies for the thread bump but I thought it better to keep the conversation in one place? If I've done the wrong thing please tell me!Would anyone that's got this working mind posting their setup? Mainly their TV and whether they had to fiddle with any settings or not?Which TV did you use, if you don't mind me asking?I've got a 950V (a 4k passive OLED). I can enable 3D in the options and get the SBS picture, but when I enable SBS 3D in my TV setting it doesn't seem to be working properly. I still get the 'double edges' that you normally only see with glasses OFF. It's as if the TV is not aligning the two pictures with the proper offset.I've watched 3D blu rays and they've worked fine (and look really good). As some other people in the thread have said, I wish 3D hadn't died out again.
IMHO the passive 3D with 1080p per eye makes watching 3D just as good (in terms of sharpness/quality) as most normal films (obviously it's not 4k per eye but 1080p is fine!).I missed the 3D gaming era but IMHO gaming seems like a great place for it - much more involving to be controlling a figure in a little 3D diorama. Sorry - brief update - I tried it again just now and it worked fine. It seemed so broken yesterday that I assumed I had a real problem.Overall I think the mode is really good. Just seeing the environment in 3D and aiming at monsters away a way, is really cool. There are a few niggles. The response time (on my tv at least) feels like it goes up quite a bit.

There is a bit of artifacting when you spin but it's perfectly fine IMHO. There's also a weird effect where the middle ground seems to get distorted, in terms of looking like it's uphill.

It constantly looks like you're running uphill in the game.I'm intrigued to try a proper session, of an hour or two, to get used to it.I'm sure some people would find 3D roadie running pretty sickening though!
