Long War Nexus Mods
I've been replaying Skyrim, and this time around decided to apply some mods to improve the graphics and a couple other things - mostly cosmetic.I saw on the Nexus that there was a fully voiced companion that would react to quests, comments, etc., and figured I'd download her and give Lydia a rest. It's a completely different take on the game, to be honest, and a fantastic one. Sophia shoots snarky comments back at townspeople'My brother is out fighting dragons and all I get is guard duty!' 'Well, that's all you're good for,' she comments back. For those bratty kids in Whiterun, she says stuff like 'If I had a child I'd tell him to knock all your teeth out,' and for the one kid whining about being bullied 'Well, you'd better get used to it unless you learn how to stand up for yourself.' She makes a lot of quest specific comments as well, from observing that some quest givers are long winded, that The Dragonborn is being used as a courier and fetcher, etc. She'll also sing the standard Skyrim songs, but doesn't know all the words quite right and so the versions she sings are funny.

If you give her something to drink and then ask her to sing the Dragonborn song she devolves into 'something something Dragonborn, la la la.' The other one off the top of my head is the Duct Tape mod for Doom 3. Having to switch between flashlight and weapon in a shooter game that's 90% in darkness was the prime example on how to make things unfun and unfair to the player.
Putting the flashlight on the rifle turned it into a 'shoot into the dark' to an exciting shoot 'em up that was challenging but not unfair.Which mod just improved a game to where it was either far more enjoyable or simply playable for y'all? Sophia is great.and after 100 hours with her I can't stand her anymore. If it wasn't for the fact that she can carry infinite loot, I would had ditched her long ago, You can have another follower with Sophia, but once she levels up and uses magic, she shoots EVERYTHING, so she gets into fights with the other followers for shooting them, and the only way to stop her is to reload a save. So I travel with her alone.I mostly use graphic enhancing/ texture mods too. Grass, water, roads. I really like how my modded Skyrim looks.I would also suggest a mod called Cutting Room Floor. It adds locations quests and characters that were removed during development by Bethesda. After so many hours in both versions, I welcome anything that changes the landscape without breaking the lore or the story.
I didn't really see the need for graphical mods to Skyrim, although I had a few. Hard drive died last weekend being the reason I don't STILL have those mods.
Mods Compatible with Long War 1.0 Updated 2016.04.27 Due to the renewed interest in Long War I am dusting off some vintage LW101 posts to help new players get started. Keep in mind that these posts were from 4-10 months ago and so some information may be out of date, but most of these mods should still be available for download and work with Long War. Hi one and all This is a quick video a few people have asked me to make, How To install Long War What to do when things go wrong and The modifications i make post installation Before anyone. Shy of regurgitating our best XCOM 2 mods list from last year, the following collection gathers those which have helped me (attempt) to conquer the long, Long War. (NB – this extensive list of XCOM 2 mods compatible with Long War 2 is a handy resource, should you wish to cross-check the base game’s existing catalogue in your own time.).

Anyway, for me, the game changers in there were the mods that add camping, eating/drinking requirements, rest bonuses, improved carrying capacity with various backpacks.and of course, the LOTR and Highlander weapons! There was a stealth tools mod that added a rope arrow that could change your approaches. Really good for a thief/stealth type character. That's when I really fell in love with the game.NFS Shift.there are some really great mods perfecting the physics making it much more sim-like.rFactor.completely useless without mods. Still didn't like it, but at least it was a lot better.X3 games.
Mods added a cockpit view. Just awesome.Far Cry 2, there were some tweaks that got rid of the 'ubisoft brown' that tainted their games back then. Also made the enemy AI more livable.
Top of my head:Kerbal Space Program (KSP) - The plain vanilla game is awesome but the free/donation mods out there turn this awesome game to a totally different plane of existence! There is hundreds if not thousands of mods which provide a huge permutation of possibilities.Armed Assault 3 (ARMA 3) - Same here and this goes for all of the ARMA versions, just visit armaholic.com to view some!
There are hundreds upon of hundreds of mods. Some partial and many complete sets that change the game play and style to your liking!
You want ARMA WW2? ARMA civil war? ARMA Star Wars? ARMA Star Gate? Your home homeland armed forces?
Most likely it's there! Your favorite military vehicle (air, land or sea)? Most like it's been done! The list is endless!Rome Total War - I know this is an 'ancient' RTS but I enjoy the mechanics much more than the latest versions! Europa Barbarorum is my favorite mod that makes it a totally new and different game by expanding the campaign map and making the factions closer to historical facts. They have the same mod but for Medieval II Total War Freespace 2 - The 'Diaspora - Shattered Armistice' is a TOTAL conversion (graphics, story, gameplay, music, voice actors, sound effect, special effects, etc.) of the original game. It changed a Mr.
Rogers space game into one of my favorite space game based in the 'New' Battlestar Galactica universe! This was the space battle game that I played every day before getting into Elite Dangerous. Much recommended if you enjoyed the BSG universe. They did a superb job and justice to the TV series. Roma surrectum mod for 'Rome - Total War' version I (I hate v.II with a vengeance).Totally changed the game, from gameplay to size of map, to - as far as a game can go - most exact replications of the different troops and equipments of the various factions, especially for Quart'hadasht (Carthage), and more challenging. Never played the Roman faction again since that, instead i beat the sh.
Out of them and put them where they belong.Fun terminated since all this does not work in Win 10 anymore due to DVD DRM screw up. Hate it.I really think of setting up an older PC just for playing that 'old' one again that beats all modern and much less sophisticated stuff.
Long War Nexus Mods 1
Those of you familiar with XCOM 2’s mod will know it needs little introduction. Crafted by Pavonis Interactive (formerly Long War Studios), it’s the indirect follow-up to Enemy Unknown’s Long War – a total conversion mod that expands upon Firaxis’ core concepts and ideas, making just about every little detail more difficult along the way.Long War 2 offers much of the same, and, as, stars “tougher recruits for a tougher war.” Given its broad size and scope Long War 2 feels as much a standalone game as it does a total conversion, therefore it’s of little surprise modders of the base game have been updating their works so as to be compatible with Pavonis’ ambitious venture. Shy of regurgitating our best XCOM 2 mods list from last year, the following collection gathers those which have helped me (attempt) to conquer the long, Long War.(NB – this extensive list of is a handy resource, should you wish to cross-check the base game’s existing catalogue in your own time.)By BlueRajaI said I wasn’t going to regurgitate the previous list, didn’t I? Back then, BlueRaja’s Stop Wasting My Time kicked off that list because it was easily one of my favourite XCOM 2 mods at the time.
The intervening period has done little to change this, however, which is why I’m delighted creator BlueRaja has updated SWMT to work alongside Long War 2.As is hinted at in the title, Stop Wasting My Time is aimed at those interested in minimising time wasted in battle. Units move quicker out on the field, the Avenger covers the world map at a sharper pace, and gone is the 1-3 second pause after launching an attack, the two second wait as you hide behind cover, and the second or so delay that’s triggered in the aftermath of a kill.Granted respite is scant in Long War 2, but the last thing you need is to waste your momentum performing needlessly tedious tasks. Likewise, every second counts when your back’s against the wall. A tight ship is a happy ship. AndBy TJNome and GrimyBunyip respectivelyRight, so you’ve trimmed the fat from your campaign but require a little more help reading the battlefield. Both Perfect Information and Additional Icons are user interface mods that I admittedly didn’t use very often in XCOM 2’s base game, however are ones which I’ve increasingly relied upon during my time with Long War 2.TJNome’s Perfect Information displays hit, critical and dodge percentages for attacks levied by recruits and aliens alike – all of which is handy for tracking how often you land an overpowered shot, or fluff a Sure Thing.
Those of you familiar with the first Long War will recognise the similarity between this and LW’s togglable Second Wave option.Additional Icons works in unison with TJNome’s work by introducing five new icons: a Loot Indicator, which marks enemies carrying loot; a Damage Icon, which shows the non-crit damage range of the unit’s primary weapon; an Aim Icon, which shows the current aim stat of the unit; a Mobility Icon, which shows the current mobility stat of the unit; and a Health Icon, which shows the current and maximum health of the unit. All of the above icons are optional, says creator GrimyBunyip, and in fact are togglable via the mod’s.ini file.NB – it’s worth noting that a handful of players appear to have issues with Additional Icons’ compatibility with LW2. I’ve used it without issue, however bear this in mind before you subscribe yourself.By LeaderEnemyBossMake All Items Available is another quality of life leg up I’ve grown to rely on. Purpose built for Long War 2, LeaderEnemyBoss’ Make All Items Available mod adds two buttons to the squad selection screen: Make All Items Available and Make Upgrades Available.I’m fond of mods that are self-explanatory and this ‘un fits that bill in that both buttons do what you’d pretty much expect.
In making items available, the former removes equipment from all barracks-dwelling soldiers not in the current squad. “This button basically combines the functions of the three ‘make x available’ buttons, leading to less clicking,” explains the mod’s creator. The latter simply removes upgrades/weapon mods from equipment that is not be used by your soldiers. A third button – Make Items and Upgrades Available – is optional and allows both functions to be combined.Pavonis have suggested something along similar lines will be implemented in Long War 2 officially at some point down the line, however until this is the case Make All Items Available should feature high on your list. AndBy TD Daz and Reality Machina respectivelyMore, more, more, how do ya like it? Very much, actually, particularly when in relation to More Map Packs and More Cities in Long War 2.
Both TD Daz and Reality Machina’s (the latter is a name you’ll spot several times on this list) mods are another couple of numbers which, again, is exactly how I like ’em. More Maps Pack brings with it three new level plots, eight parcels and one PCP to the map pool which in turn allows for more varied level layouts. Over time, TD Daz promises to update their work with new procedural elements “for even greater variations”, and also provides a handy FAQ on the mod’s page that dives a little deeper into the minutiae of what it’s all about.Modder Reality Machina’s Steam Workshop page features over 70 mods and is worth visiting on its own, however his or her More Cities adds, you guessed it, more cities. Over to the creator:“More Cities adds in more cities for the game to use as locations, and gives them a global x offset to adjust them from 3d globe coordinates to XCOM 2’s 2d map projection. Hopefully preventing missions in London on the other side of the Channel or other absurdities.“All math changes use float so you don’t have all cities spawning in the exact same place. Won’t work on saves with locations already affected.
(So in LW2 you’ll need to wait a bit because LW2 spawns missions before you can detect them)“Adds in both the cities Long War added to EU/EW and a number of other cities in places unfilled by the game (Whether it be countries like Italy or entire regions like New Indonesia being left unfilled), adding a total of 292 cities ranging from Jakarta to Madrid.” andBy Reality Machina and robojumper respectivelyRobojumper’s True Concealment featured in our best mods list for XCOM 2’s base game, however is a worthy addition to LW 2’s collection too. XCOM 2’s newly added mission timers caused a bit of a stir at launch because while the mechanic tackled the Overwatch creep playstyle that had plagued forerunner Enemy Unknown, it also piled undue pressure on players. True Concealment sidesteps axing them completely but instead helps to balance play by reacting to the systems already in place.
In turn, timers don’t start counting down until your crew breaks initial concealment – which works wonderfully in Long War 2.Squad Cohension is a mod I’ve found to work well with the above in that it incentivises streamlined teamwork beyond, you know, staying alive. Taking a Fire Emblem-like approach, Squad Cohesion introduces a “squadmate score” system that gives small buffs for squads who trust one another.
